Favorite Things: Visiting SD

I lived in San Diego for 10 years!

 I moved there to go to SDSU for my nursing degree. I established a community of friends, met my Husband, and even started a family in San Diego. My husband and I chose to move back home(both of our families live in northern California)last year as our family was expanding, to be close to our very helpful family members. It was one of the best decisions that we ever made in our marriage, but one of the hardest. We love San Diego and miss our friends dearly. 2 months ago we made a trip to San Diego with my family for my Best Friend's birthday party. We gave my family a little tour around the city and it was so fun!

This weekend one of my friends is getting married in San Diego. My husband can't make it due to work. I was willing to take at least one of the kids with me. My husband is insisting that I leave both of them behind, with him. He stated, " You work so hard Mothering our kids, taking care of me, and being a Nurse. I want you to enjoy yourself and have a great weekend with your friends!".Why is it so bittersweet leaving my favorite people in the world to visit my favorite place, where my favorite friends will be?

PartyMode Part IV :No Sew Tutu Tutorial

On my "Mommy BucketList" I had to one day make a "Homemade TuTu" for my little girl! I thought the perfect time was to do it for her 1st "Lady Bug" Birthday Party, that will be in 3 weeks!!!

What You'll Need:

1 Pre-made Crochet Headband( Joann's Fabric $1.99)

1-roll of 25 yard, 6" tulle- the more you use, the fluffier and more full the tutu is.( Joann's Fabric $2.99)

Scissors

A hard cover book to stretch the headband over. It should stretch it, without it being stretched to it's limits- it should be able to move easily.

Directions:

1. First, you want to decide on the length of the tutu. I found it was easiest to hold it against my little lady. You'll need to fold it in half before cutting it, to double the length. Cut your tulle to that length until you have a good stash.

2. Stretch your head band over the book and adjust it so it's stretched evenly.

3. Fold a length of tulle in half, and pinch the folded side. From there, push it through one of the holes from behind so the loop is poking out the top, visible side of the headband. Using your fingers, spread the loop open so there is a hole. Take the ends of the tulle length, and push them through the loop.

4. Once they are through, carefully tug the length until it 'ties' into a tight knot on the headband. Smooth it down, and move on to the next loop. Continue until you have filled that row of holes.

4. Once it's filled out, lay it on a flat surface so that it forms a circle with all the tulle spread out nice and straight. You will want to give it a 'hair cut' to even the strands out, and this is the easiest way to do that.

5. I really wanted to run with my  "LadyBug" theme so I added some pompoms($1.99 JoAnn's Fabric) with hot glue!

6. I also used some ribbon(recycled from another project) for some added cuteness! I  pulled it in and out of the crochet headband to make it stay in place!

Party Mode Part III: Ladybug Centerpieces

One of the main displays at a party are the Centerpieces. I have seen the famous pompoms everywhere but never made any myself. I thought that JoJo's 1st birthday in 4 weeks would be a perfect time to finally give them a try. I tried them out and I added my twist to them !

The Tutorial:

Supplies: Tissue Paper (Dollar Store)

Toule( recycled)

Ladybug Images(printed out from computer)

Black poster board(Dollar Store)

Green Easter Grass(Dollar Store)

Vases(Recycled)

Step 1 Stack 2 sheets of tissue. Make accordion folds, creasing with each fold.

Step 2

Twist pipe cleaner over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes

Step 3 Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.

Step 4 - Twist Pipe cleaner around bottom of pom pom to make it more secure and so it looks more like a flower.

Step 5- Have Fun decorating with them!

Why I Love Easter

I love Easter because it reminds me that I have been given GRACE. I do not have to work hard or perform to receive the love of Christ. The price was paid on the cross. I can freely live a life full of abundance and love...given by God.

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

psalm 34:8

I also love that I can celebrate and have fun with my family!
